At J Vineyards, all sparkling fruit is hand-harvested at night in cool temperatures to ensure the grapes remain in peak condition. An ultra-gentle pressing in our Coquard presses (rarely found in the U.S., and one of very few in California) prevents astringency or bitterness, and ensures a clean, refreshing mouthfeel. And the same high level of attention and care is poured into each still varietal as well, creating a portfolio that is consistently lauded and always enjoyed.

Vintage 2023 offered fruit quality, concentrated flavor development, bright acidity and incredible balance thanks to a long, mild growing season and extended hang time for the grapes.

The story of Jayson begins with friends gathered around a table.

In 1993, Jayson Pahlmeyer invited three of Napa Valley’s most storied winemakers, Helen Turley, Bob Levy, and Randy Dunn, to the Pahlmeyer blending table to assess the lots from his 1992 vintage. As the four tasted and blended, the results in the glass inspired them to showcase a more intimate, approachable expression of the Pahlmeyer pedigree. Ultimately, they created a wine that possessed a soulfulness and suppleness ready to enjoy in the moment — and “Jayson” was born.

Every meticulous decision culminates in a wine that is intentionally Jayson: opulent, complex, and built to enjoy upon release.

The Jayson Red Wine is rich and fleshy, with our mountain-grown Merlot at its core. Expressive aromas of crushed black cherry, mushroom, and leather lead to a ripe, focused palate of black cherry and black currant laced with mocha and toasty spice. The mid-palate is mouth-filling and plush with caressing polished tannins that guide the interlaid flavors long through a pure, persistent finish.

The 2022 Pahlmeyer Merlot is generous yet structured, a dynamic interplay of intensity and vibrancy. Aromas of brambly blackberry, macerated black cherry, and wild raspberry rise from then glass, underscored by crushed peppercorn, fresh sage, and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, a rich core of dark plum and fresh fig is wrapped in plush, velvety tannins, while savory, earthy notes emerge with time: tobacco leaf, cocoa nib, and plowed earth. The finish is long and lifted, carried by the wine’s natural energy and a lingering touch of violet and warm spice. Beloved around the world, Rombauer Chardonnay was first produced in 1982.
It wasn’t until 1990, however, that Rombauer made its first Chardonnay from the
Carneros region, where the San Pablo Bay meets the southern end of Napa and
Sonoma valleys. The cool climate and unique soils of this region provide ideal
conditions for this quintessential Carneros Chardonnay with the Rombauer hallmarks
of intense fruit flavors balanced by fresh acidity.

Aromas of yellow peach, guava, and bright meyer lemon are found on the nose. These ripe fruit flavors continue
on the palate with notes of creamy vanilla and buttery nuances. Rombauer’s signature bright acidity frames the
