In 1952, Meiri Shurui's whisky production was started by Takazo Kato and passionate craftsmen, but it was abandoned due to a fire. Since reacquiring the license in 2022, they have brought together all the techniques that have supported sake brewing at breweries nationwide, from yeast development to alcohol distillation, and this is the first release, a step forward with a view to the next few decades. This is a pure malt whisky from Takazo Distillery. The original whisky aged in "plum wine barrels," which were used to mature the award-winning Hyakunen Umeshu (Centennial Plum Wine), is blended as one of the key components. This bottle, which showcases the fruity sweetness and fragrant vanilla aroma that utilizes the Japanese terroir, hints at the future of Takazo Distillery.
