Usage Scenes(Usage/Recipies)
It all started in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a craving and a dream.
During countless walks along the boardwalk, Jody and Alan Wagner noticed something missing — there wasn’t a single place to get truly great, fresh caramel corn. They both loved popcorn, especially the kind they remembered from their college trips to Chicago — warm, crunchy, buttery, sweet caramel corn made the old-fashioned way. So, they decided to make it themselves.
Back home, they got to work. The kitchen became a test lab. Batch after batch — 53 tries, to be exact — they experimented until they finally created what they believed was “Amazing or Bust” caramel corn. That’s how their signature Recipe 53 Caramel Corn was born — and it remains the heart of Jody’s Popcorn today.
Still proudly woman-owned and family-operated, Jody’s Popcorn is more than just a snack — it’s a story of persistence, family, and flavor. What began as one couple’s search for the perfect caramel corn has grown into a beloved brand found in stores across the country and around the world — yet every bite still tastes like home. -

From a Beachfront Shop to a Beloved Brand
In 2005, Jody and Alan opened their first little popcorn shop near the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The smell of caramel corn drifted through the boardwalk, and it wasn’t long before locals and tourists alike were lining up for a bag (or three). Each batch was handmade, using real butter, non-GMO kernels, and no preservatives — a difference you could taste.
As word spread, demand grew beyond what their small shop could handle. What started as a family recipe quickly became a local favorite, and then a national snack brand. They expanded into wholesale, supplying gourmet stores, resorts, and specialty retailers, all while holding onto the same care and quality that began in their kitchen.
