Bordon is a family-owned organic winery located in Slovenian Istria, a coastal wine region shaped by Mediterranean influence, mineral-rich soils, and centuries of agricultural tradition. Through its wines, the Bordon family expresses not only terroir, but also a philosophy rooted in respect for nature and heritage.
Although grape growing has long been part of the Bordon family’s history, the modern winery was officially established in 1985 by Ivan Bordon. At a time when private winemaking in Slovenia was still emerging, he became one of the first producers in Slovenian Istria to bottle wine under his own label.
Slovenian Istria lies at the crossroads of Mediterranean, Alpine, and continental climatic influences, creating ideal conditions for balanced grape ripening. Warm days are tempered by cool nights, preserving acidity and aromatic clarity in the grapes.
Vina Bordon is certified organic and vegan.
At the heart of Vina Bordon’s identity is its dedication to indigenous Istrian grape varieties, which best reflect the region’s character. Malvazija Istriana is the flagship white grape of the region. Refošk/ terrano is the native red grape of the region.
